July and August are beautiful in Corfu, but they are also hot, busy and expensive. April and October are the months many returning visitors choose instead. Here is what to expect.
Corfu in April
April is when Corfu is at its greenest. The hills around Afra are full of wild flowers, the olive groves are fresh and the days are mild, which makes it ideal for walking, the Old Town and day trips. The sea is still cool for most swimmers, and outdoor pools are cool too (ours are not heated), so April is a holiday for exploring rather than for long swims.
Easter in Corfu
Corfu celebrates Greek Orthodox Easter like nowhere else, with philharmonic bands, processions and, on Holy Saturday morning, the famous throwing of clay pots from the windows of the Old Town. In 2027 Orthodox Easter falls on 2 May, so the Holy Week celebrations run through the last days of April. Book early: Easter week is one of the busiest of the spring.
Corfu in October
October is summer's gentle ending. After a long summer the sea is still warm enough to swim, the beaches are quiet and the light is golden. Tavernas and most beach bars stay open in the first half of the month, and it is a lovely time for long lunches, sunsets at Kaiser's Throne and walks in the Old Town without the crowds.
Warm evenings by the fire at Villa Pisti
April and late October evenings can be cool. Villa Pisti, our central villa, has an energy-efficient wood-burning fireplace in the lounge. It warms the lounge and, through air ducts, also the ground-floor twin bedroom when its door is open. Firewood is available at an extra charge. All bedrooms in every villa also have hot and cold air-conditioning, and in April and October warm duvets are provided too.

Practical tips
- Bring a light jacket for the evenings, especially in April.
- Rent a car: you will want to see both coasts. We can arrange one at the airport, about 10 minutes from the villas.
- Check opening days of tavernas before driving; our local guide lists them.
